Elections for the Shadow Authority will not be taking place as planned as the Government has decided to pause the move to a Unitary Authority. We will keep our residents informed of any changes and plans going forward.
The Government had decided that we should have 2 Unitary authorities in Worcestershire: North and South
The District and County Council was to be disbanded in May 2027 and replaced by a shadow authority until the North Worcestershire Unitary Authority would take over in April 2028.
As councils across Worcestershire prepare for changes through Local Government Reorganisation, this council is looking at how local community identity, representation and local voice can be supported in the future.
Councillor Kumar has resigned from his role as Chair and Councillor for Linthurst ward. The Council thank him for his dedicated work for the local community and his contribution to the Parish Council over the last 8 years, and as Chair for 7 years. Cllr Kumar will remain as District Councillor for the Lickey Hills ward. We have a vacancy for a parish councillor to be co-opted for the Linthurst ward. Contact the EO for details.

Lickey Hills Park Car Park Charging Consultation
Lickey and Blackwell Parish Council has written to Birmingham City Council to point out the problems with the proposals to bring in payment for the carparks in the park. Displacement parking is a big concern to residents. We have also spoken to our County Councillors and the District and County Council on this matter. The consultation has now closed. We have been informed by the local community group that charging is likely to start in April and that the lane behind the church will be fenced off. Yellow lines will also be added to adjacent roads where displacement parking would be likely.
We have our annual report in the May edition of the Village Magazine see our newsletters page here for our newsletters and annual reports
